Why I’m running
Earlier this year, when my uncle Dave’s cancer progressed, I knew I had to do something impactful, even from the other side of the world.
Cancer has taken people I love, and people you love too. It’s a fight that touches everyone. That’s why I’m taking on something big.
This October, I’ll be running 10 marathons in 10 consecutive days. Each run is a tribute to someone who’s been affected by cancer. Some I’ve known personally, others have been shared with me. All of them matter.
Cancer has already taken so much from my family. I saw the heartbreak of my wife losing her mum five years ago. We lost Dave in June, but I’ve carried him in my thoughts on every training run.
But this isn’t just about running. It’s about raising funds to fight back, supporting organisations working on prevention, treatment, care and ultimately a cure, so fewer lives are lost in the future.
Every kilometre is in their memory.
Every step is a step toward change.
